Back in 2002, I entered my Imperial Royal Guard and "Darth Maul" Sith Training with the later get selection for the competiton. I lost of course as I entered for fun but to have that one selected and mislabel is a little *blushing*.

Unless......I complete my Singapore Jedi "Padawan" Garb quickly the next couple of days, snap some photos of me in it with my usual Darth Vader Lightsabre and enter that into the contest this year.

Just doing for the heck of it and for fun -__^ of course!

Well, will see how. I MUST complete my Singapore Jedi Padawan Garb soon; only need to redo the Gi and add Press Studs to it and the Obi. Just that I had been going out almost daily now, from getting materials to registrating for Dressmaking Classes to just stuck on the computer! -__- Frankly, I'm between Celebro and doing stuffs for my Costuming Website now. @__@

Ps: I need a new username for my Costuming website. A place in LOTR and short. Want the Silent Street in Minas Tirith but it's taken. The Silent Hill is available tho' but it's only mentioned once in a conversation to Aredhel in The Silmarillion. @__@ Tried Anarien but apparently it turned out to be a Male name for some RPG or Game Character. o__O
Pss: Anarien means "Sun Maiden" in Quenya, Elvish. ^__^ Right Grandaunt? -__^
Pss: No, I still haven't figure out her's or Haldir's Sindarin Names or state why Haldir ended up with Silvan Name as his Father Given name, other than their mother is a Silven Elf. o__O

Forget to add, there is this GREAT Japanese Goods Store at IMM. Went there with Jean, ElvenQueen & Jo the previous Wed after I finished working at GeneFest. Gotten $26 (aka 13 items) there (as I remember still):

When I got the money, going there again to get some more stuffs. -__^ Like more Bandage Netting for my First Aid Kit, more Hangers (they got a whole range of types for various need, clothings), Scented Candles, Envalopes, Plastic Shoes Box, Japanese Dinnerwares etc etc. ^__^

I had signed up with Ang Mo Kio CC for the Elementary Dressmaking Class. Paid SGD73.50 for it and according to the Clerk there, the first lesson will cover Measurement Taking so I need to bring 2B & 4B Pencil, A4 White Paper, Tailor Ruler/s & Measuring Tape. Will see where the 8 lessons will lead me to.

Hopefully by end of next month I can make my own Arwen BR Dress, both layers with Princess Seams. ^__^

Arrrrhhhhhh, Bankrupt & So It Begin
Went to Spotlight Tampines yesterday to get my Krylon 18K Gold and Silver Leafing Pens, other than 2 shades of Red of Dylon Multi-Purpose Dyes for my Arwen BR Dress Upper Sleeves, Krylon Chrome Spray Paint (it was on sale from SGD14.95 to SGD8), 3D Paint and some Kiddy Body Glitter. The Pens cost me SGD14.95 O__O so it better last me for quite some time.

After that, dropped by the Fabric Section and it got me screeming in agony......

All the McCall's Arwen/Eowyn Patterns are already here and it was in the other McCall's Pattern Catalog that was missing from Spotlight Plaza Singapura last Sun.

This is actually what happened. Went to Spotlight Plaza Singapura last Sun with Fiona. While going through the catalog, I noticed that the one containing the Chomsam Pattern (McCall 4301; that can be used for Legolas Tunic) was missing. I gotten that pattern from Spotlight PS so the pattern catalog was there before. Asked the person at the counter if the newer one is at the counter but they said there isn't and the one on the stand is the latest one.

Hai.....instead, since it was the last day of the SGD6.30 for McCall & Simplicity Pattern Sale, I gotten McCall 4090 (Renaissance Skirts), McCall 4091 (Chemise in 2 Length), McCall 4107 (Renaissance Lined Tops) and McCall 2058 (Wedding Accessories).

I could had been on my way to start doing my Arwen BR Dress but Spotlight PS choose NOT to have the newer Catalog suddenly when it was around the weeks before when I gotten McCall 4301 and 4340.

Now got to wait several months before McCall goes on sale again. >__<

As for today, after getting the photos from Jo, I went to Chinatown. Spent 1+ hour at KFC having my lunch/dinner and calculating how much of the 72" Red Velour I should get as I'm on a tight budget rite now. Decided on 6yards if it's SGD8/yard and 10yards if I can get it reduced to SGD6/yard.

Found the fabric again and after some surveying of the other shops looking for an alternative to my Haldir Helm's Deep Cloak, I managed to bargain down the price to SGD6.50 and gotten all 10.75 yard (but charged for 10 yards only). So here I got 1yard for the Arwen BR Dress Lower Sleeves, 3 yards for Haldir's Helm's Deep Cloak and rest 6 yards for some Elven Gown.

Also gotten about 15.5 yards of that 45" Grey Cotton-Wool like mix fabric for more Lothlorien March Warden Tunics and Helm's Deep Elven Archer Cloaks for SGD55.

So I'm almost bankrupt now till I get the rest of my pay for GeneFest this Sat and Oct 13th for the marketing money.

Still got to throw away SGD190 for the Bullion & Beaded Trimmings for my Arwen Cranberry Dress, SGD80 for Elementary Sewing Class at Ang Mo Kio CC and SGD50 for the deposit for my Dress. And I only got only SGD329 plus SGD80 to spare currently, inclusive of money for the family's food till Oct 13th. @__@

What Was I Thinking? @__@
I was thinking of dyeing the Cotton fabric for my Arwen BR Dress Upper Sleeves today but turned out I didn't have Dylon Red Dye yet. @__@ I got Maroon, Brown, Green, Yellow, Blue etc etc but absolutely NO Red. My Gosh! What was I thinking? @__@ Will have to get 2 of it tomolo when I drop by Spotlight Tampines.

I Want To Watch Vanity Fair........
Saw an article in TheNewPaper today about the actress who starred in the movie Vanity Fair.

I remembered one of my LOTR_Costume ML friends giving her review on the movie and how much it sounded interesting, both storywise and costumewise, that I kinda pledge to watch it when it arrive in Singapore. Well now, I just need to wait for Oct 7th and off I should go to watch it in the cinema. -__^

Fancier Of Super Deformed Stuffs.....
I went out with Fiona today. First we went to Clark Quay and I gotten the full set of 6 Toybiz LOTR Motorized Twist 'Em (Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Frodo, Ringwraith & Smeagol) at SpawnAsia.

Initially thot of getting only Legolas or Aragorn or none at all cause the Ringwraith wasn't there but after asking the Lady, she said she got the Ringwraith in stock at the back and she can take it out for me if I'm willing to wait. So 10mins and SGD24 later, I got my set.

Cleafairy is examining the Ringwraith one now. She always insisted that anything LOTR and/or Super Deformed/Chibi belong to her, instead of Padme & Maul's (the 2 gotten my SW Stuffs except the SD and Lego ones). o__O

Later, dropped by this new shop and they got the Twilight Witchking Bust for SGD250. >__< I WANT THAT BUST!!!!! >__<>Ringwraiths and the Twilight Ringwraith no matter how ugly they are (to me they look great! -__^ ). That is why I gotten the Toybiz Fell Beast with Ringwraith on Thur tho' the Fell Beast was too small for the 8" Action Figure. Frankly, I feel like getting one more from SpawnAsia since it's only SGD29.90 and I can use 6 more Ringwraiths. ^__^

Other than that, they got the Galadhrim Soldier Bust going for SGD120 from the original ~SGD109 (USD60). But the item is on Back Order according to the Official Site so maybe if I got the cash to throw, I can just ask Simply Toys to order it for me. Hmmm.....so far I got the Mouth Of Sauron Bust on the way next year and Gil-Galad to be reserved after today.

Later, Fiona and me went to have lunch at Plaza Singapura Burger King before we proceed to Spotlight to look for some stuffs. I gotten 4 McCall's Patterns for myself after much thinking and debating. Want to get a Gold Leaf Pen too but they don't have it so I'll probably make a run to Spotlight Tampines to get it soon as I need it to highlight some design on the cloth I gonna use on my Arwen BR Dress after I had dyed it Red/Maroon. Don't want to go out of the house too much as I only got 3 weeks to do so many costumes and armor so all supplies must be at home ASAP.

Okay, off to bed now. Tomolo morning I got to go to DBS Bank to cash in my NJRC Salary Check (which was only SGD5/h and I got SGD500++ >__< ) and start thinking about getting the SGD190/7.8m Beaded Trimming for my Arwen Cranberry Dress or not. -__-

Dressmaking Class For Me?
A couple of choices for me to attend but the closest seems to be at Ang Mo Kio CC. Wish I had known about the Kebun Baru one as it's longer but seems like I'm too late now.

As for intermediate one, will have to venture outside Ang Mo Kio for it as it's only offered Admiral Garden CC (in Woodlands Ring Road) & Kampung Chai Chee CC.

Hmmm...must keep a lookout for the next Personal Make-Up & Skin Care at the Yio Chu Kang CC too.

Freedom & Decisions.....
I'm officially not a Staff of the Singapore Science Centre now......till 1 month from now. O__O And no more working for the Upstream unless there is a need. My heart and pocket been pressing for me to be a staff of the Videotopia/Planet Games Exhibition this 23rd Oct onwards tho' and since it's under Events/Project, should be no sweat.

So I now got less than 1 month to settle most of my costumes and armor and banners. Didn't do anything yesterday as I was trying to catch on my sleep but hopefully today I can move my butts and get a couple of stuffs, other than adding/making a couple of stuffs to my costumes. So far, need to get a Ground Sheet for The Matrix Trilogy Screening at Orchard Green tomolo and add a hook & eye on the collar of my Trinity Coat. Also need to get a proper boots for her if there is one in my size at AMK Central. And if got time and money, have to also drop by Chinatown to get the 10m (yes, 10m as I can't figure out how much I need for my Arwen BR Lower Sleeves and since 70" Cloth is rare, can use the same stuffs for other gowns) of the Red Velour and maybe even more of that Grey Fabric I used for my Haldir March Warden Inner Tunic since Xeno been pressing to get some from my and I don't think I have enough to spare him. Hope the fabric is still there...... And I still need to hunt for the fabric for my Haldir's Cloak which is a Red Wool-like cloth. @__@

But I got a call from Simply Toys last Tue which sounds like my Coronation and Gate of Mordor set are here o__O

Oh no! I won't be getting my check (from 2-weeks of NJRC only) till this Sat and that gonna take a couple of days to clear as it's a Sat. Really need to get the Trimming for my Arwen Cranberry Dress which gonna eat away SGD190 till I can sell off the remaining piece at ~USD16-20/m (it cost SG24.36/m which comes to USD14.37 but I could use a little extra to cover the time I took just to get it first and USD20/m is not the final price).

Well, hopefully I can get my Arwen Cranberry Dress out by next Fri and be ready in 2 weeks' time. Must also remind my seamstress to make it fitting as the cloth is already elastic. -__^

Will also have to get a roll of that Kids' Drawing Paper from IKEA and beg my seamstress to create a pattern for me using it. Really need it for my future Arwen White WETA Dress and The-Three-Jumper-Gowns which seems to draw nearer. Found a possible fabric for the Arwen White WETA Dress among the swatch I gotten for Yu-Ann's Eowyn White Wool. And if the cloth is still available or there is another alternative, other than getting the fabric for the trimming & belt (or making it from scratch using Ivory Ribbons, Organza Laces and maybe some beads or gold threads) and lining, I'll be ready to make the dress. And when I get the Red Velour, I'll only need to get some cheapo Black Satin for the Inner Dress and Lining to make other than dyeing and highlighting in Gold the Paisey-Pattern Cotton Print for my Arwen BR Dress.

So much costumes and armor to do in 1 month! @__@

1 more day till I ended my job at the Gene Fest at the Singapore Science Centre.

Frankly from this experience, I doubt I ever want to work for Upstream again due to that Su. *roll eyes* Maybe I had been influence by the people from Projects/Events but frankly the atmosphere was kinda not as friendly as under Project/Events. Well, guess now to wait for my $$ from the 2 weeks of NJRC and 1 week with Gene Fest which comes to a few hundreds.

• NJRC Interview (Mon-Fri for 8hrs minus lunch hour & overtime) = SGD220
• NJRC Competition (Sat-Sat for 11hours minus lunch) = SGD484
• Gene Fest (Wed-Tue 9 hours) = SGD345.50

TOTAL = SGD1 049.50 minus CPF Cut >__<

Anyhow, Ross again offered to me today the job for Videotopia this Oct 23rd(??) to Feb 2005. Stable job and money for a few more months but I'll also loose my freedom again. -__- My Grandma is also grumbling cause she scared something happen to her and nobody will know. -__- Well, the pay will probably be SGD1 056 before CPF Cut per month (4 weeks, 6 times a week) but I'm worried I won't be able to take off during the weekends in Dec to go to ComicFiesta (10-12th Dec), EOY (Dec 4th?) and even the LOTR Trilogy EE Movie Marathon (Dec 17th?) if it's to happen. I need the money to get my Biker Scout Armor but I'll loose part of my time and freedom. This will also means I got 2 weeks and once a week to complete the 2 versions of my Haldir's Elven Archer (both have same Armor, Boots and Pants but different Undershirt, Leather Vest, Scale Skirt and Round Skirt). And the list of costumes I got to complete this year is pretty long:

Anyhow, watch a bit of Get Real! on ChannelNewsAsia just now and it's about Singapore being a Branded Country (aka people buy branded goods). I realized that I'm kinda a person who buy branded good but seems like for practicality and durabilty other than balancing it off. I also explode my money on my costumes by paying so much for the best materials and the tailoring cost.

For example, I only wear Mark & Spencer's Bras which cost SGD40-70 per piece but I balanced it off with wearing SGD1 panties bought from the market years ago when I first move to AMK Ave 4/5. *Blush* Hehehe, I even had been wearing the same ones from years ago as they still are wearable. -__^ My clothings are also predominantly SGD5-10/piece or 3-For-SGD10 rejected clothings while pants were bought by my sis from Mark & Spencer's Sales in UK. Occasionally gotten special clothings from U2 or Giordarno etc but gotten them out of necessarties to be part of my costumes/armor or official wears.

So that's why I can afford to pay so much for a couple of stuffs since I saved my money in most other areas. -__^

Star Wars Original Trilogy Special Edition DVDs is suppose to be released tomolo but I already saw it at Laserflair in Ang Mo Kio. The Code 1 cost SGD119 while Code 3 SGD89. But I didn't get as I want....

Any, I was kinda pissed that Lucas choose to replace poor Sebastian Shawn at the end of ROTJ with Hayden Christensen. Shaw is probably rolling in his grave rite now. *roll eyes*

Hmm....should I wear something Star Wars tomolo? I kinda have NO SW costume to wear currently as my IRG is too red and bulky, Sith need to replace the Hook & Eyes, Padme White Battlesuit all over the room (and the boots is "damaged") while my Singapore Jedi Garb Ver. 1 still 2-3 sizes too big.

Hai.....maybe I'll just wear a SW T-Shirt over my usual Black Long Sleeves.

Ps: I gotten my 2nd hand CanCan for SGD30 a few days ago. After Wed, gonna ask the aunty at the shop to dig out the Wedding Dress she said can fit me and if it's nice and cheap, may get it too.

Gonna get a 2nd hand CanCan from the Bridal cum Photo Develop Shop near my house for SGD30. Gonna need it for my Black Dress (aka Pandora of Saint Seiya Hades Chapter) and future GA & "Coma" Jibrille Dress. Well, as long as it's clean, will take it as a new one will cost SGD90.

Disappearing Act, Leader Qualities & Back To SCC.....
Well, I had been disappearing from the Forums and MLs and even this Blog for over a week now due to commitment to NJRC. Frankly, the competition itself was tiring that I hit the bed once I get home, and time passes so quickly that I don't feel bored at all. But it was also frustating on some days that I want to snap some of the problematic students' spinal cord at the neck (aka kill them quickly).

But out of the frustation came great joy on the last day of the main competition (aka Fri) when my heart went to one of the 2 remaining teams from Singapore Chinese Girls' School. One of the team was doing well with their total scores rite after Fuhua Secondary but the 2nd group was on the edge of being eliminated for the finals. I tried to console one of the team member whose hope was trased when she scored Zero for her final mission but All Hope was Renewed when the result of the final 40 Secondary School Teams was announced and they made it. Tears of joy flows freely and I felt a sense of fulfilment tho' I wasn't directly involved in their achievement.

Well, I always say, "A good leader will feel overjoy when it's his/her team members who won something even tho' the leader isn't directly involved".

On that day also, I met a supportor from River View Secondary wearing the Ringwraith Costume. Not bad and I like the Gauntlets. He said his brother made the suit for him and so I gave him my namecard and the pamplet for the LOTR Online Petition. He later came back for the final day with his team cheering teams with a home-made Ringwraith Sword and simplified Armored boots. Wish I had taken a photo of him but I was too busy and my camera's flash can't be switched off as flash is not allowed during the competition. -__-

And now, even tho' NJRC is 2 days ago done, I still don't have much time online to answer mails, Forum threads and even launch the long overdued websites because......

I'm back at the SSC for Gene Fest 2004

Phew! One after another it seems! -__^ I initially thot I was down for the Kids' Fest even tho' I didn't go for the interview but today's briefing was for the Gene Fest. Well, I love this as I always have a love for Molecular Genetics so this will be okay for me. Will have to hit my notes from my Biotech Studies to refresh my memory about Genetics. -__^

Other than that, I went to Arab Street today. Finally gotten the Red Jersey Silk Velvet and Lining fabrics for my Arwen Cranberry Dress:

9m Red Jersey Silk Velvet = SGD126

5m Maroon Habotai Lining = SGD 8.50

4m Maroon Silk Satin = SGD 20

TOTAL = SGD154.50

So now I got everything I need for the dress except for the Trimming that'll cost SGD190 for the 7.8m (I need only 1.8m for my dress). Will probably get the trimming after I get my pay or if I'm itchy and my pay from NJRC don't arrive soon, rite after the Gene Fest.

Cost of tailoring is SGD200 according to my seamstress and I hope she stick to that price as I'm on a very tight budget. >__<>SGD400 and it's rivaling my Arwen Mourning Dress. >__<

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz & Ruthlessness -__^
Working at the LOTR Exhibition and SSC can turn you into a ruthless person. -__^

Last week, I started working for the NJRC and we had the interviews. The holding area was in the Maxwell Auditorium and out of boredom, I drew Post-Galadriel Hair Product Anarien (and Raphael of TMNT) on the White Board.

Then a few days later (when it was time for the Secondary School Interviews for NJRC), the board was erase for some talk so drew Anarien & Haldir on it again. Then I had them both saying "Please Support The LOTR Petition". With Izhani's & Wendy's permission, Jo started writting the words "Please Support The LOTR Trilogy Movie Marathon Singapore" with link to the Online Petition above my Star Park (or should I name it The Lord of the Parks -__^) cart0ons and I added a thought bubble for Haldir that says "And Get A Free Postcard!". This followed by a plot to give free postcards to those Secondary (and primary) School kids who signed the physical petition which kinda works on the last day of the interview. \/ ^__^

And now.......with the Secondary School students gonna come this Wed for their main NJRC Competition, I had plotted with Idzani's and Wendy (and Lai San's) permission to make a little card/pamplete half the size of a name card and distribute it to those interested. The card will probably say

Sometimes I Wonder Which Direction Am I Going......
I had some Tertiary Education and my real interest talks these few days with my co-workers at SSC. And as I dig deeper to my passions since I was young, I realized that a lot of them actually originated a long, long time ago.

For a start, I donno what University course to take. I love Genetics but my hand too shaky to do Gel Electrophoresis Run (the putting sample into the well part). I love Microbiology but that is a little too specified already and I see life as a Lab Tech in Singapore unless I have my creative juice coming out more often. I love certain issues on Immunology but I kinda suck at certain important parts. I want to do Emergency Medicine but I can get panicky sometimes and that is dangerous for the patient.

So what should I do when I'm ready to go for a university education? @__@

And thinking back, my passion with costumes actually went all the way to when I was in Primary School. I used to love to design wedding gowns and some of the sketches are pretty good.

I'll love to actually follow up on it by getting a more formal education in form of Cert or Diploma BUT I'm only interested in Medivel-Victorian/Edwardian clothings and kinda the "medivel" & tradition costumes of several Asian countries. Not sure if Singapore has such cources without the Fine Art Module part or Canada as a part-time one as I still want to have my main qualification to be in Science Subjects. There is also the problem about me can't draw to save myself so any modules related to Fine Arts is totally out.

Hai....maybe I'll get an answer some day......
